Job Title: Deli Clerk

Job Summary:

The deli clerk plays a vital role within the store, contributing significantly to customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include assisting the Deli Manager in daily operations, maintaining a clean and visually appealing space, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Required Qualifications:

• Age 18 or older
• Proficient English language skills (reading, writing, speaking, analyzing, interpreting, and understanding)
• Ability to operate department equipment (slicer, scale, can-opener, wrapping machine, rotisserie, fryer, cheese grater/cutter, case cutter, and stove/oven)
• Physical stamina to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift 50 lbs.
• Adaptability to varying temperatures
• No adverse reactions to fresh, dried, or processed products, spices, or powdered substances
• Tolerance of dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift
• Excellent customer service and teamwork skills
• Weekend availability required

Job Functions:

• Operating slicing machines and related equipment while following safety protocols
• Replenishing deli products
• Preparing deli products for sale
• FOLLOWING APPROVED PROCEDURES FOR RECEIVING, CODE DATING, PREPARING, STORING, AND PRICE MARKING, ARRANGING, AND RESTOCKING PRODUCTS TO ENSURE QUALITY, ACCURACY, AND PRODUCT ROTATION AND PROTECTION
• Handling damaged and spoiled products according to Company policy and assisting in controlling the level of damaged goods
• Informing the manager or other designated team members of low inventory conditions or spoilage problems
• Maintaining salad bowls and displays stocked and properly turned and faced at all times in accordance with department standards
• Utilizing and maintaining equipment as required by department; reporting any equipment problems immediately
• Maintaining a clean, neat, organized, and safe work environment (worksurface, utensils, and equipment)
• Unloading trucks and transporting merchandise to the Deli Department that weighs 25 lbs., and that occasionally weighs up to 50 lbs.
• Understanding and adhering to Company shrink guidelines as relates to Deli Department operations
• Checking product received against an invoice
• Ordering product as instructed by the Department Manager
• Promoting current charitable promotions to customers
• Knowledgeable about and able to differentiate between various types of merchandise, including taste, preparation method or use, and price differences between varieties of similar classes of products
• Performing all duties in accordance with Local, State, and Federal regulations as they pertain to the Deli operations

Working Conditions:

This role requires working in varying temperatures and adapting to changing environments.

This is a fast-paced retail environment with high expectations for customer satisfaction and productivity.

Salary Range:

$15.00 - $17.00 per hour
