Foodtown is seeking a skilled and customer-oriented Meat Butcher to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for cutting, trimming, and preparing various meats while ensuring the highest quality and freshness for our customers. This position offers a great opportunity for career growth, with the potential to be promoted to Meat Department Manager within 3-6 months based on performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cut, trim, debone, and prepare various meats, including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood.
- Ensure proper portioning, packaging, and labeling of all meat products.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting with special requests and offering recommendations.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Monitor meat freshness, rotate stock, and remove expired or unsellable items.
- Operate and maintain butchery equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with inventory management, receiving, and inspecting meat deliveries for quality.
- Support team members and assist in other store operations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a butcher, meat cutter, or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of different meat cuts and preparation techniques.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and commitment to food safety practices.
- Willingness to learn and take on leadership responsibilities.
