Cost Control Engineer

Title: Senior Cost Control Specialist
Location: Paramus, NJ

Overview:
A leading EPC contractor in the energy and industrial construction sector is seeking a Senior Cost Specialist to support cost control functions across multiple projects. This position plays a key role in managing project financials, collaborating with project managers, and ensuring timely, accurate reporting for both internal stakeholders and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cost Management:
• Develop, maintain, and update cost control budgets, forecasts, and actuals.
• Oversee subcontractor and vendor financials including commitments and change orders.
• Track project trends, support change management, and manage cost flow.
• Prepare monthly reports, earned value metrics, and project performance indicators.
• Interface with accounting to support invoicing, revenue recognition, and cash flow forecasting.
• Reporting & Analysis:
• Perform cost variance analysis and calculate metrics like CPI, SPI, and accruals.
• Prepare internal and client-facing reports using tools like Power BI.
• Support internal/external audits and contribute to project controls deliverables.
• Project Controls Support:
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure consistent communication of financial data.
• Guide junior staff and assist in proposal support when not directly assigned to a project.
• Contribute to the development of staffing plans and risk/contingency evaluations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience
• 7 years of experience in project controls within the EPC or construction industry
• Experience with cost control systems; JDE and EcoSys preferred
• Familiarity with contract administration and document control

Skills:

• Deep understanding of cost control, scheduling, risk management, and project execution
• Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and graphical reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)
• Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and collaborate across teams

Pay: $130,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
