What are the responsibilities and job description for the YMCA Summer Camp Counselor 2025 position at Foothills Area YMCA?
Camp Oconee is looking for Camp Counselors for this Summer!
Camp Oconee Locations :
- Seneca (South Cove County Park)
- Walhalla (Old Walhalla Middle School)
The first week of camp is June 2-6 and the last week of camp is July 21-25. We will have a training week the week before camp starts (May 27-30).
YMCA Camp Counselors will lead groups of children in age groups (ranging from 4 - 12 years old). They will also be leaders and mentors for teens in the Counselor in Training program (CITs). They work alongside a co-counselor and are led by Site Directors. Counselors are responsible for keeping the campers active, being positive role models, and managing behavior. They will do so under the leadership of the camp directors. Summer Camp runs for 8 weeks (plus one week of training). All counselors are allowed one week of vacation time if they have a planned trip for the summer.
Summer Camp begins at 7 : 30 and ends at 5 : 30, so counselors will be working shifts of either 7 : 30 - 3 : 30, or 9 : 30 - 5 : 30. Counselors will be scheduled to work 40 hours per week.
