Kennel Manager

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Kennel Manager to oversee the daily operations of our kennel facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and management, ensuring the well-being of all pets in our care. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a love for animals, and the ability to lead a team effectively.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily kennel operations, ensuring all animals are cared for and maintained in a safe environment.
• Manage staff schedules, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high-quality pet care.
• Oversee feeding, enrichment, and exercise routines for all animals in the facility.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and animal handling procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of animal health, behavior, and any incidents that occur.
• Communicate with pet owners regarding their pets’ needs and any concerns that may arise.
• Coordinate with veterinary professionals for health checks and medical treatments as necessary.
• Ensure cleanliness of the facility by managing cleaning schedules and maintaining supplies as well as keeping standards at or above those dictated in NC Animal Welfare Laws.
• Process new intakes from the public and animal control.

Skills

• Strong experience in kennel management or related fields such as veterinary assistant or pet care.
• Knowledge of dog training techniques is a plus.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for animal care tasks.
• Proficient in animal restraint, ensuring safety for both staff and pets during handling.
• Excellent animal handling skills with a compassionate approach to pet care.
• Experience in pet grooming is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining records and schedules.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
