Growing and busy multi-office neurology practice, where we have some of the BEST specialists in the field. We are looking for additional Patient Appointment Specialists to grow with our team. Duties include greeting patients on the phone for making or maintaining their appointments, answering patient questions, verifying insurance, and transferring calls as needed. Experience with EMR is preferred.

Responsibilities:

The Patient Appointment Specialist is responsible for independently creating and scheduling appointments within the electronic medical record for a complex, multi-provider medical practice. This is supported by gathering patient-specific demographics to accurately assess the nature of the request and determine the need for co-payments, referral authorizations, and to ensure the patient arrives on time and is prepared for their procedure or visit; as well as collecting all Guarantor and insurance details needed to help assess patient eligibility. Through this process, the Patient Appointment Specialist responds to and interacts with a variety of individuals including patients, customers, referring physicians, allied health staff and family members. Appropriate interpretation and application of Foothills Neurology scheduling criteria and medical needs are essential. To provide exceptional service, the Patient Appointment Specialist is required to navigate multiple systems simultaneously and is expected to be available or talking with patients and healthcare professionals 90% of the day and to service inquiries without consultation. This requires learning several complex scheduling workflows, managing telephone calls, voicemails, and messaging systems. Accuracy and thoroughness in all patient-related activities, including electronic communication, is crucial.

  • A cheery, helpful and patient-centered personality is a MUST. It is the Specialist #1 Priority to ensure that the patient feels taken care of in a timely manner, has had their questions answered and received all necessary information for a smooth appointment. This is a very high level Customer Service role.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED and minimum (2) years customer service experience in an environment requiring multi-tasking, such as a call center, administrative/physician's office, appointment scheduler or retail/service industry. Individuals without relevant medical education or medical experience will be required to successfully understand Medical Terminology within 6 months of employment.

Qualified candidates must be customer-focused, service-orientated, possess strong verbal/written communication skills, and have the ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, and balance conflicting demands. Role requires independent decision making and sound judgement capabilities, with a strong attention to detail and follow through. A demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment, manage difficult and emotional situations, remain calm under pressure, display empathy and maintain positive communication skills. Must have strong keyboarding and computer skills. Demonstrates basic understanding of insurance terminology. Punctuality and a reliable method of transportation are required.

  • Full Time (40) Per Week
  • Monday thru Friday 8AM - 5PM
  • No Weekends
  • Pay $18-$20 Per Hour, DOE
