ABOUT FKO:
For Kids Only Afterschool (FKO) is a non-profit, out-of-school time provider based in 17 locations throughout five cities. With a mission to support the holistic needs of children, FKO fully believes learning extends well beyond the classroom, and OST Educators are a key component to building life-long learning skills.
LOCATION: Wright Middle School, Chelsea, MA
HOURS: 8 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 2 hours per day, between the hours of 2:330-5:30pm
Job Summary:
The Inclusion Specialist is responsible for providing individualized attention, targeted skill building, small group activities and one-on-one guidance for children who require additional social, emotional, behavioral and/or academic support in an Out-of-School Time environment. The Inclusion Specialist will work closely with the Behavioral Health Coordinator and Site Director to help assess, develop, and implement support plans at their program site.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Offer assistance to children during enrichment classes, including small group and one-on-one instruction for those with IEPs, or those who have social, emotional and/or behavioral needs, who are having difficulty fully participating;
- Model effective practices and interventions for Site Director and Group Leaders, to allow them to adapt their programming and enrichment activities to be more inclusive whenever appropriate;
- Work with Behavioral Health Coordinator to review IEPs and 504s, to ensure that in-school intervention plans are transferred into Afterschool Support Plans;
- Consult with Behavioral Health Coordinator to develop and implement specific accommodations and support plans as needed;
- Provide updates via email to Behavioral Health Coordinator and Director of Child and Family Services on a monthly basis;
- Report to the Site Director and/or District Director for daily responsibilities;
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, Mental Health, Special Education, Family Work, and/or Human Services or other related field or equivalent work experience;
- Massachusetts Special Education certification preferred;
- Must pass MA EEC Background Record Check
- Teaching: 1 year-Preferred
- Special education: 1 year- Preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Requires standing for long periods of time, as well as stooping, squatting, and running
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
