What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Day Counselor position at For Kids Sake Early Learning Center?
Position Details:
Counselors are the primary caregivers for each camper. The Counselor is responsible for
planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their
personal growth and daily living skills.
• Full-time 40 hours. Part-time 20-30 hours per week.
• Date Range: June 9th - August 15th potentially.
Qualifications:
• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to work outside and be on your feet for hours per day.
General Responsibilities:
• Assist in the daytime direction, supervision, and organization of traveling groups of
10-12 campers within activities and throughout the camp, ranging from
kindergarten through 8th grade.
• Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through positive
communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and
Empowerment of youth.
• Assure campers are properly supervised at all times. Participate in their activities
and in their conversations.
• Be aware of and implement appropriate safety guidelines while encouraging kids to
explore and experience.
• Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for
campers within the mission and outcomes of our organization. "Kids will have daily
experiences worthy of sharing at the dinner table in a love what they learn
atmosphere!"
• Responsible for leading or assisting with the teaching of activities, including, group
activities, nature/outdoor activities, sensory,
cognitive/math/language/literacy/science, arts, and crafts, and more.
• Actively participate in all programming and aspects of the day.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.
• Provide the daily care of each camper within your supervision, including recognition
of personal health needs.
• Follow proper procedure, document & ensure that campers receive medications as
prescribed.
• Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and
Maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to a supervisor.
• Keep all program areas, storage spaces, buildings, and general facilities clean and
respected as a shared space with the community, the Congregational Church.
• Be a positive example and a good steward in the community, with the understanding
that staff with and without children are a representative of ZANT Zone Summer
Camp.
• Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
• Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
• Set a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures
and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship.
• Use positive behavior management techniques with campers and model appropriate behavior at all times.
• Treat campers, co-workers, parents, community members & passersby with kindness
and respect at all times.
• Represent the camp when interacting with parents or community members.
• Provide parents with appropriate feedback and information as needed for their
campers to have a successful camp experience.
• Follow safety and security protocols when campers are in public areas (such as on
field trips) while presenting a positive image of the camp.
• Other duties as assigned.

• For Kid’s Sake Early Learning Center, Director.
Compensation:
• To be determined based on experience, education, and years with the company.
