What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pet Groomer position at For Pets' Sake?
A busy pet salon in Alexandria, VA currently looking for experienced pet groomer well versed in all breeds and/or cat grooming. Minimum 2 years experience required. Full time: 5 days a week. Mondays, Wednesdays-Saturdays.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
A. Pet Grooming: Perform bathing, brushing, clipping, and styling services according to breed standards and client preferences.
B. Nail Trimming: Trim pets' nails safely and efficiently.
C. Ear Cleaning: Clean pets' ears as needed to maintain hygiene.
D. Teeth Cleaning: Assist with teeth cleaning or provide guidance on dental care.
E. Sanitary Grooming: Perform sanitary trims as necessary.
F. Customer Interaction: Consult with each incoming client before every appointment to understand their grooming preferences and communicate effectively about the grooming process and the client’s expectations.
G. Pet Handling: Handle pets with care and compassion, ensuring their safety throughout the grooming process.
H. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain grooming tools and equipment in good working condition.
I. Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized grooming area, including cleaning up the Employee’s section after each grooming session and helping the team with daily clean-up of the shop’s general areas as well.
J. Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of each pet's grooming history and any special instructions from clients by adding grooming notes and updates to each client’s profile after appointments.
K. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, addressing any concerns or questions clients may have in a professional, pleasant manner.
L. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth operations and a positive work environment, being generous to help others when possible.
EXPECTATIONS:
A. Professionalism: Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, especially in language, attitude, always striving to give a positive customer service experience and maintain positive, healthy relationships with colleagues within the shop.
B. Safety: Follow safety protocols to ensure the well-being of pets and staff. Never leave pets unattended on a table or unsecured within the shop. Always be sure to secure scissors and tools to prevent accidents. Strive to work at a pace that is swift and steady but never frantic or rushed for the safety of pets and quality of service.
C. Punctuality: Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to any scheduled shifts and appointments. Be sure to check appointment times for the next day prior to leaving the shop. Be conservative when scheduling appointments or taking walk-ins to ensure the Employee can wrap-up appointments and all post-appointment cleaning and notes prior to close each day.
D. Adaptability: Be adaptable to different pet breeds, personalities, and grooming styles.
E. Continuous Learning: Stay updated on grooming trends, techniques, and pet care practices.
F. Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and management. Refrain from gossip within the shop.
G. Customer Satisfaction: Strive to exceed customer expectations and build long-term relationships. If customers request revisions, please aim to accommodate their request as best as possible and refrain from taking any critique personally.
H. Teamwork: Foster a positive and supportive team environment by assisting colleagues and sharing knowledge.
