What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate position at Fora Education?
We are seeking Associates to join our new re-organization as a collective of independent professionals with experience and expertise in educational consulting and global development. As a Fora Education Associate, you would join a collaborative and supportive network of other Associates that create educational products that can be sold and seek out funding for projects from outside sources. You are free to be a Fora Education Associate and pursue other work elsewhere at the same time, including full-time employment.
Fora Education is a non-profit LLC devoted to educational development around the world. Our specializations include research, policy analysis, evaluation, curriculum design, implementation, and working with partners to design customized solutions to educational challenges.

Responsibilities of a Fora Education Associate
- Seek out and suggest Calls for Proposals (CfPs) that you and Fora Education can pursue together, in alignment with ForaEd’s focus, core principles, and capacity.
- Develop Proposals and Expressions of Interest (EoIs) for CfPs in alignment with ForaEd’s focus, core principles, and capacity.
- Produce educational training materials that can be offered and sold by Fora Education, understanding that the income from materials will be split 60% to the author and 40% to ForaEd.
- Produce case study materials that can be offered and sold by Fora Education, understanding that the income from materials will be split 60% to the author and 40% to ForaEd.
- Produce reports and/or articles for our substack Education Popularis (EdPop).
- Seek out film production opportunities and funding for Fora Films.
- Attend quarterly meetings of Fora Education Associates to share work and opportunities, network, and provide input for ForaEd’s direction as a collective.
- Seek out and suggest additional sources of funding and revenue for Fora Education, and in general, be a collaborative partner with others at ForaEd.
- Serve as an advisor and board member for Fora Education.
- Serve as a Fora Education advocate and ambassador, promoting and advertising Fora Education when and where appropriate.
- Continue to engage in the world in ways outside of Fora Education professionally and personally.
What a Fora Education Associate Can Expect
- Support from CEO Dr. Matt Schuelka and others at Fora Education to develop your own proposals and materials.
- A Fora Education email address.
- Access to tools such as Google Workspace (including Drive and NotebookLM), Basecamp, Microsoft Office (but not SharePoint or Teams, because ForaEd would never make you use inferior products), Zoom Workplace, ChatGPT (including Deep Research), and more. Additional tools could be added or replaced based upon Associate feedback and inquiry. You are free to use these tools for projects and work outside of Fora Education.
- Templates that you can use for proposals, reporting, products, presentations, and other tasks.
- Fora Education to provide you the experience, structure, and resources to support the projects you lead, including financial and project management expertise.
- The ability to include Fora Education in your CV and LinkedIn, and as a professional identity to leverage.
- To be featured on the Fora Education website and highlighted in ForaEd LinkedIn posts.
- The ability to work from anywhere in the world.
- The ability to maintain independence and pursue any work you want outside of Fora Education.
- The ability to have other jobs, including a full-time job somewhere else.
What a Fora Education Associate Should NOT Expect
- Any guaranteed salary or financial compensation, except for products developed and projects won.
- The ability to misuse or abuse Fora Education for any reason, including the misuse of Fora Education email and digital tools.
Requirements of a Fora Education Associate
In every 12-month period, a Fora Education Associate will:
- Find and suggest at least 1 CfP to which Fora Education can propose
- Lead or support the writing of at least 1 proposal or EoI
- Produce at least 1 educational training item or case study
- Lead (write) at least 1 report or EdPop article
- Attend at least 50% of quarterly meetings and other Fora Education meetings and online events.
- Provide ideas for additional projects, revenue-generating activities, finance sources, and/or film production ideas
Associates are encouraged to go above and beyond the minimum requirements above.
Failure to meet the minimum requirements above may lead to probation and/or termination as an Associate.
