Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced National Account Manager, Off-Premise, to lead our efforts in driving business growth with East Regional and National Chain Retailers. This role will focus on implementing the company’s annual customer plan and achieving performance objectives by building relationships and securing key placements within the retail channel. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the wine industry, be a high-energy, trusted relationship builder, and possess existing connections within the retail sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Account Management: Directly manage and call on National and Regional retail chain accounts, securing key placements and programs based on company priorities.
- Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with National/Regional chain buyers and key decision-makers in each account.
- Sales Collaboration: Work closely with wholesaler account executives, sales execution teams, and internal sales managers to ensure successful program execution.
- Market Strategy: Understand new item initiatives, prioritize for individual customers, and leverage our brand reputation to drive portfolio distribution.
- Revenue Growth: Plan, forecast, and sell programs (e.g., planners, ads, trade marketing promotions) and new item placements to support company growth objectives.
- Pricing Strategy: Execute company pricing strategy while managing various pricing structures (e.g., Post Offs, Multi-Lane, Warehouse Pricing) and collaborating with the Field Sales Team to ensure consistency.
- Innovation Expansion: Promote and expand company innovative, multi-price point wines, including RTD and spirits, to meet consumer trends.
- Data Analysis: Utilize tools such as Nielsen/IRI, POS data, and Digital Marketing to conduct deep analytics and present custom-tailored programs.
- Program Presentations: Lead monthly presentations to highlight company priorities and chain-specific opportunities, maximizing merchandising activity.
- Trade Marketing: Create impactful trade marketing programs that align with business goals.
- Cross-functional Support: Act as a liaison between Field Sales and other teams to ensure program success from planning through evaluation.
- Sales Tools: Leverage sales tools (KARMA, VIP, Nielsen) to drive business growth, identify new opportunities, and track key initiatives.
- Compliance & Administration: Ensure 100% compliance with assortments, planners, and promotions, and manage administrative tasks for each chain as needed.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
- Experience: 5 years of experience representing a wine company, beverage alcohol brand, or leading distributor within the off-premise channel. Existing relationships with East Regional/National chain buyers are highly desirable.
- Relationship Development: Proven ability to forge new relationships with key chains and develop long-term partnerships.
- Attention to Detail: Highly detail-oriented with a strong understanding of competitive market pricing and programming.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience creating presentations, promotions, sell sheets, and detailed correspondence.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to buyers and stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical thinking and ability to interpret data to make informed decisions.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with wine culture, varietals, appellations, and food pairings is preferred.
- Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within the assigned area.
- Travel: Must possess a valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and be able to travel as needed.
