Role Overview :
We’re hiring a Senior Chemist to lead HPLC method development for our new supplements division in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This role is essential to setting up testing methods for supplements, including verifying active ingredients, purity, and potential contaminants.
You’ll play a key role in building out our HPLC capabilities and shaping the workflows for this division. This is an opportunity to work in a growing lab with the freedom to develop new methods and processes while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
This role reports to the Lab Director and works closely with the team in person.
Responsibilities :
Develop, validate, and optimize HPLC methods for analyzing active ingredients, excipients, and contaminants in supplements.
Oversee the preparation and testing of supplements for purity, potency, and compliance.
Train and manage lab technicians on HPLC workflows and quality standards.
Develop and implement laboratory systems that maximize throughput and automation
Monitor and evaluate instrument performance, minimizing production retests
Perform basic maintenance, calibration, and verification testing on lab equipment
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, especially ISO, but also FDA and USP
Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and communication
Maintain accurate records for methods, testing protocols, and instrument calibrations.
Stay updated on new technologies and techniques to improve lab efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications :
Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, etc)
5 years of laboratory experience in dietary supplements or food-related industries.
Expertise in HPLC systems and data analysis
Ability to set and maintain quality standards for ISO requirements and customer needs
Experience with LIMS and QMS software and terminology
Strong leadership and management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
