Job Title : Teacher Associate / Paraprofessional
Department : Education Reports to : Lead Teacher / School Principal
Job Summary : The Teacher Associate plays an essential role in supporting classroom instruction and managing a positive learning environment. This position involves working closely with the lead teacher to assist with lesson plans, provide individualized support, and help maintain an organized, inclusive classroom atmosphere. Teacher Associates help ensure that all students have the resources and guidance needed to reach their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist in Classroom Instruction
Collaborate with the lead teacher to deliver lessons, provide explanations, and answer student questions.
Assist in preparing educational materials and setting up classroom activities.
Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students based on the lead teacher's guidance.
Classroom Management
Help monitor student behavior and enforce classroom rules consistently.
Assist in managing student transitions between activities, recess, and other non-instructional times.
Support a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that encourages student engagement.
Student Support and Engagement
Work directly with students to reinforce learning, offer feedback, and provide extra help as needed.
Assist students with special needs by implementing strategies from their Individualized Education Plans (IEP) under teacher direction.
Foster positive interactions among students and promote a collaborative learning atmosphere.
Administrative Assistance
Assist with grading assignments, tracking attendance, and maintaining classroom records.
Prepare notes or updates for parents as requested by the lead teacher, supporting parent-teacher communication.
Help organize classroom materials, supplies, and resources to ensure a well-prepared learning environment.
Qualifications :
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Education or related field preferred.
Experience : Previous experience in a classroom or educational setting is a plus.
Skills :
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from lead teachers and administrators.
Patience, flexibility, and a genuine interest in supporting student learning.
Certifications : CPR / First Aid certification is preferred; any state-required paraprofessional certification, if applicable.
Working Conditions :
Setting : Primarily in a classroom, with occasional responsibilities in playground supervision, bus zones, or lunch areas.
Physical Requirements : May involve standing for extended periods and the ability to lift educational materials or assist students as needed.
