Job Overview:
We are seeking an EXPERIENCED Safety Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in promoting a safe work environment on construction sites by implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams to foster a culture of safety.
Responsibilities:
- Visit jobs sites regularly for on-site observations and help train as required.
- Help maintain consistency across the trades and companies for the safety program.
- Help maintain a working relationship with company employees and management that allows for the proper correction of any safety issues while maintaining a cordial and professional relationship with foreman and employees.
- Perform safety audits on active jobsites and provide consistent audit results reporting to Safety Director.
- Respond when workplace accidents happen, creating reports and determining ways to prevent similar accidents in coordination with the Safety Director.
- Ensure OSHA compliance across all trades performed.
- Be involved in the safety committee in which the field personnel can review any safety concerns and provide documentation of such meetings and procedures implemented to address the concerns of the trades.
- Willingness to attend safety seminars and training to stay updated on OSHA regulations.
- Attend and run job-site meetings with employees and clients as needed to maintain compliance.
- Maintains composure and professionalism in emergency situations.
- Take into consideration industry regulations and the specific risks on job sites to ensure normal work activities are handled safely in coordination with the Safety Director.
- Demonstrates a passion for health and safety by educating others on the importance of workplace health and safety practices.
Qualifications:
- Must be motivated and have a strong work ethic
- Proven experience working in a safety-related role
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to teach others the established safety standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Safe use of tools, machines and equipment used in the workplace
- Attention to detail
- Bilingual (Spanish)
Other Requirements:
- Experience in helping, developing, and delivering training programs with the Safety Director
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Drive on a construction job site as required
- Take pictures and jobsite notes effectively
- Valid driver’s license
