Description
Are you ready to make a significant impact by modernizing and maintaining critical business applications? Ford AV is seeking a highly skilled Back End Business Software Developer who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in building, enhancing, and maintaining business applications that drive our operations, using Progress-based technologies on Unix/Linux platforms.
What You’ll Do
· Maintain & Enhance Applications: Update, modify, install, and develop new character-based Progress programs, ensuring our suite of over 10,000 applications remains robust and reliable.
· System Upgrades & Bug Fixes: Lead routine systems maintenance, perform upgrades to the latest Progress versions, and troubleshoot and resolve bugs reported by end users.
· Collaborative Problem Solving: Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify, analyze, and resolve technical challenges in a collaborative, agile environment.
· Innovate with Data Services: Utilize PASOE data services and the 4GL/ABL language to enhance database-driven applications, ensuring seamless performance across our Unix/Linux systems.
What We’re Looking For
· Technical Expertise: You have strong experience building and maintaining database-driven applications, and a knack for troubleshooting and resolving program issues.
· Progress & ODBC Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Progress RDBMS, 4GL/ABL, and PASOE is highly preferred, with a solid understanding of ODBC connections.
· Version Control Savvy: You’re comfortable with version control systems—experience with Bitbucket is a plus.
· Agile Mindset: Familiarity with DevOps and Agile methodologies, as well as tools like Jira, is beneficial.
· Multi-Tasker & Deadline-Driven: You excel at juggling multiple priorities while consistently meeting established deadlines.
· Educational Background: A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field—or equivalent hands-on work experience—is preferred.

Physical Requirements The physical requirements of this role play a pivotal role in ensuring job performance and success.
