Final Assembly Engineering Senior Manager Ford Motor Company The Opportunity The Final Assembly Engineering Senior Manager leads a team of Manufacturing Managers within the Final Assembly Engineering Organization across :

  • Advanced Process Engineering & Studies
  • Plant Vehicle Teams (PVTs)
  • Overall Product & Process Quality
  • Product & Process Standards
  • Fastening Technology Key Responsibilities Advanced Process Engineering & Studies
  • Lead the team in developing process and cost studies for new programs and non-production requirements.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to define costs, processes, plans, timing, tooling, and project awards. Quality Improvement
  • Improve quality metrics across all Ford North America plants.
  • Drive quality pain point projects to implement continuous improvements.
  • Support process improvements for future programs. Product & Process Standards
  • Develop, update, and deliver Global Manufacturing Requirements (GMRs) into product design.
  • Establish process standards and process control plans to support core engineering deliverables. Fastening Technology
  • Develop fastening tooling and standards to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Introduce new fastening technology to enhance manufacturing processes. Plant Vehicle Teams (PVTs)
  • Collaborate with plant teams to support Final Assembly Engineering deliverables.
  • Implement quality and process improvement activities in plants. Machinery & Equipment
  • Develop major equipment requirements for future programs.
  • Support quality and process continuous improvement initiatives for equipment in plants. These job functions will support :

  • Campaign prevention & reaction plans
  • Ford North America Final Assembly Manufacturing facilities Key Responsibilities in Detail
  • Lead a team of Manufacturing Engineering Managers / Supervisors in Advanced Process & Program Studies, Quality, Standards, Fastening, and Machinery & Equipment.
  • Execute Quality Pain Point projects to reduce warranty costs and improve overall vehicle quality.
  • Research and vet new technologies and vendors for implementation.
  • Work on Global Manufacturing Standards, including procedures, GMRs, standard cells, gap strategies with Product Development, and standard costing for future models.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on PAC Papers and Stop Ships to refine manufacturing standards and reduce warranty costs.
  • Introduce new technology into North American plants.
  • Develop online and offline torque strategies and improvements.
  • Work with Plant Vehicle Teams on continuous improvement projects and future implementations.
  • Support Ford of India in implementing digital transformation into core processes.
  • Ensure all program aspects meet cost, delivery, and safety requirements.
  • Define design & build scopes for tooling, equipment, and installation.
  • Collaborate with VME Core Equipment, Conveyor & Facility Teams, Assembly Plants, and Suppliers to meet deliverables.
  • Work with Process Engineers & Product Development Teams to optimize facility & tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with tooling vendors to improve existing equipment and develop new processes.
  • Lead quality improvement projects, ensuring issues are identified, resolved, and closed.
  • Support Program Cost Studies, ensuring proper tooling and implementation plans.
  • Coordinate with PD & Quality teams to meet design requirements.
  • Attend launch coordination meetings (AIMS, DEMS, Whiteboard, Scorecard, etc.).
  • Integrate automation & new technologies into tooling for better delivery and quality.
  • Work with MSAP & Architecture Teams to incorporate new process standards for improved quality and efficiency.
  • Support on-site builds and installations as required.
  • Use Plant High Hurts analysis to predict and mitigate launch risks in future models.
  • Implement Lessons Learned from previous model launches to prevent recurrence in future programs.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop training plans for employees.
  • Demonstrate Ford behaviors, including excellence, focus, and collaboration. Minimum Requirements
  • B.S.

degree required.

  • 10 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering / Operations.
  • Major program launch experience as a leader or equivalent role. Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of MDQOS deliverables, including :
  • Tooling development
  • LQOS, DPA5, GSPAS / VPS, APT, Teamcenter
  • PFMEA, SCCAFs, Error Proofing Principles
  • GMRs / Health Charts, and VOSS
  • Understanding of the relationships between VME, New Models, Program Management, and Operations during a vehicle launch.
  • Experience in other Manufacturing Vehicle Functions.
  • Strong leadership skills, particularly in cross-functional teams (PD, Quality, Operations, Manufacturing).
  • Deep technical expertise in quality improvement processes.
  • Strong communication skills for reporting to Director and VP-level leadership.
