What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Patient Service Representative position at Fordland Clinic?
Patient Service Representatives are very important to our mission - to provide the same access to quality healthcare for everyone, no matter their income or insurance. They are the first voice a patient will hear when they call us, the first face a patient will see when they visit us, and it is the first impression of our team that a patient will have. The right person for this role is friendly and outgoing, both in person and on the telephone. The Dental Patient Service Representative facilitates the smooth transit of patients through the dental practice and provides a range of critical tasks that support an efficient, effective and financially sustainable dental program.
Responsibilities (included, but not limited to):
- Answer, screen and route incoming calls and provide needed information.
- Schedule, cancel, reschedule and confirm appointments.
- Triage walk-ins or emergency patients according to clinic's walk-in policy.
- Create accounts for new patients using PM system and Dentrix
- Update patient information and history. Scan or import information into Dentrix/PM
- Verify insurance eligibility and correctly enter into patient account in PM and Dentrix system prior to patient being seen.
- Check patients in and out.
- Make any needed follow up appointments.
- Responsible for daily cleaning of the front office area and waiting room
- Responsible for incoming faxes, e-mails and documents given by patients, other offices or insurance companies. Scan into EMR/EDR and/or distribute to appropriate place for review. Update computer records when information is received.
- Take patient payments and balance money at the end of each day.
- Post all insurance payments to patient accounts and refile any necessary corrected claims.
- Accept co-insurance and process same-day self-pay payments.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High school graduate
- Experience in customer service
- 2 or more years of experience in the dental field preferred

Work hours: Full-time, hourly position - In order to maintain benefit-eligibility, a minimum of 30 hours per week on average are required, but 40 hours a week will be expected for this position. Hours are subject to change. Clinic hours are 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. This position may be scheduled to work any of the days the clinic is open (Monday through Friday) and may be scheduled to arrive 15 minutes prior to opening and may be scheduled to leave one hour after closing, depending on patients scheduled.
Salary : $100
