We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer with a strong emphasis on analyst (business and system) skills to join our team. This role is pivotal in maintaining and optimizing our pathology laboratory information systems, interfaces, and workflows. The successful candidate will work closely with laboratory management, system vendors, and the IT department to ensure seamless operations and continuous improvement. Additionally, this position will support and collaborate with pathologists and lab staff to effectively represent the voice of the customer.

- Maintain and optimize laboratory information systems (LIS) and configurations to ensure high performance, functionality, and reliability.
- Coordinate with infrastructure and endpoint teams for hardware-related changes.
- Manage system interfaces and workflows to streamline laboratory operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with laboratory management to understand and address their needs.
- Liaise with system vendors to ensure timely updates and support.
- Collaborate with the IT department to integrate LIS with other systems.
- Triage and coordinate support requests from the Help Desk related to the lab information system.
- Gather and distribute lab management metrics via dashboards, reports, or database extracts.
- Participate in incident management activities impacting pathology laboratory systems.
- Conduct detailed analysis of laboratory workflows and processes to document standard operating procedures and identify areas for improvement.
- Gather and document requirements from lab staff and pathologists to enhance system functionality.
- Develop and implement solutions that align with business goals and improve efficiency.
- Ensure that system enhancements and changes reflect the voice of the customer.
- Provide training and support to lab staff on new system features and updates.
- Develop reports and analyze metrics and KPIs to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the pathology technology solutions.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a laboratory, business, information systems, or related field.
- Proven experience in business analysis and requirements gathering
- Strong technical skills in maintaining and optimizing systems
- Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work well both individually and as part of a team
- Ability to use time productively and contribute to high levels of company operational efficiency and effectiveness.
