Pay Rate: Up to $23.00hr
Summary/Objective:
This position provides supervision for the Environmental Services Department, ensuring quality results. The Environmental Services Supervisor will direct and assist the Environmental Services Director in managing the department staff, meeting with residents and staff. He or she will actively participate in the onsite facility’s goals and objectives. Understands the Forefront Healthcare contract and obligations within the agreement.
Essential Functions:

- May be responsible for the training of hourly associates in both formal classroom settings and/or “on the job”.
- Supervises all EVS functions and personnel.
- May be involved in the purchasing of supplies within the budgeted guidelines from approved selected vendors.
- May be required to maintain cost records and works to meet budget guidelines.
- Is involved in the hiring, orientation, training, counseling, and disciplines when appropriate. May recommend terminations with direct report.
- Schedules work hours and assignments also reviews, and checks staff work performance.
- Is responsible to see that each shift is properly staffed.
- May be involved in the creation of job descriptions, cleaning schedules.
- Understands EVS/Laundry chemicals and their proper usage.
- Checks in EVS/Laundry and Linen (if applicable) supplies.
- Assures that EVS/Laundry equipment and supplies are properly stored and maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Visits with residents to ensure the delivery of EVS service is exceeding expectations.
- Visits all residents at least one time per quarter. Residents at nutritional risk are visited weekly. Documents all visits.
- Participates in required facility meetings.
- May be required to evaluate work performance and giving evaluations to employees.
- May be required to submit written reports to administration or EVS Director as necessary.
- Investigates on-the-job injuries and corrects the problem and/or retrains the employee as necessary.
- Ensures continued compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Understand facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
- Perform other department duties assigned by direct report.

Work Environment:
This position requires lifting, up to fifty pounds (50lbs).
Physical Demands:
The Environmental Services Supervisor stands and walks intermittently throughout the working day, as well as reaches, stoops, bends, lifts, and carries supplies and equipment. The EVS Supervisor must have the ability to work with chemicals/cleaning agents and must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds (50lbs).
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is an hourly position, with expected hours to include: days, evenings, some weekends, and some holidays.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Previous 1-3 years’ experience in Healthcare or Long-Term Care Management is recommended, but not required.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Must be able to read, write and understand English.
- Must be in good mental and physical condition.
- Must possess leadership qualities and be able to supervise and secure the cooperation of the EVS personnel.
- Must be able to work productively with other management personnel.
