Position Summary
Under normal supervision, performs journeyman level work to install, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair mechanical piping systems and fittings for carrying fuel, chemicals, water, steam and air in heating, cooling, lubricating and various other piping systems. The pipefitter performs maintenance, inspection and testing of boilers, air conditioning and petroleum systems, and in some environments, fire suppression systems. In general, a journeymen level pipefitter is able to read blueprints, apply local building codes using working knowledge and skills of trade principles, practices and procedures.

Typical Duties
- Laying out work and measuring to locate position of pipe from drawings or other *written specifications;
- Cutting various sizes of pipe to correct lengths with chisel and hammer, oxyacetylene torch or pipe-cutting machines;
- Threading pipe with stock sandies;
- Bending pipe by hand-drive or power-driven machines
- Assembling pipe with coupling sand fastening pipe hangers;
- Making standard shop computations relating pressures,flow and size pipe required;
- Making standard tests to determine whether finished pipes meet specifications
- Perform inspections and testing of fire suppression systems where required
- Perform Other Tasks And Duties As Assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Combination of trade school coursework and on the job training or apprenticeship.
- Five(5)years' previous experience performing mechanical plumbing and equipment installation
- Knowledge Of Commercial Mechanical Systems.
- Ability To Read And Understand Blueprints.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations regarding repair and maintenance for occupied spaces.
- Ability to estimate, track, and manage material resources and time, and adapt to changing work priorities.
- Demonstrated Organizational,problem-solving,and common sense skills.
- Ability To Work Safely.
- Good communication and customer service skills to act responsively to customer inquiries and requests, and escalate the more difficult matters appropriately.
