What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist / Office Support position at Forest City-Dunbar Elementary School?
NATURE OF WORK:
An employee in this class performs several duties to provide clerical assistance in an office setting. Detailed instructions are given and most tasks are routine and repetitive in nature. The employee in this class would be in close contact with other employees, students, parents/guardians, visitors, etc on a daily basis.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- Answers incoming phone lines
- Gives and obtains routine and limited information
- Screens inquires to identify simple ones to answer and ones to refer to administration.
- Assist with student and parent/guardian needs as presented.
- Operates a limited variety of simple standard office equipment.
- Assisting with students that arrive late to school and/or check out early for the day.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED:
- General knowledge of computers and computer commands.
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to assist others without hesitation.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in correcting errors or issues as needed.
- Ability to communicate well with other school personnel, parents/guardians, students, and central office staff while complying with the confidentiality requirement in local, state, and federal policies and status.
- Knowledge of general office practices.
- Ability to operate a multi-line phone system.
- Ability to compile simple information.
