What are the responsibilities and job description for the ICW Placement and Support Specialist position at Forest County Potawatomi Community?
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Seeks out families, relatives, and/or high-level placements for children who have been removed from their homes due to child abuse and neglect.
- Ensures foster home and out-of-home placements meet tribal licensing standards as outlined in the Foster Home and Out-of-Home Placements Ordinance and the Children’s Code.
- Informs and creates public community awareness of the need for Native American foster homes, recruits emergency foster homes close to the FCP community.
- Completes home studies and prepares license recommendations for renewals and distributes approval and denial letters.
- Establishes, maintains, processes, and updates files, databases, records, certificates, and/or other documents.
- Screens incoming calls and correspondence, takes referrals, processes enrollment verifications, along with other supportive duties for the ICW department.
- Prepares or assist with various reports, statistical and narrative, performs information gathering and analysis as directed.
Here’s what you’ll need to be successful:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Four years’ administrative experience
- Two years working in the social service field, human services, or related experience
- Knowledge of cultural competence skills, ethics, and boundaries
- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
- Ability to maintain on-call responsibilities: on-call approximately 18 weeks out of the year, as determined by staff schedules
- Evening and/or weekends, extended hours, irregular shifts and travel required
- Ability to analyze and solve problems, maintain confidentiality, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses
- Must have a valid, clean driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the Tribe’s insurance
- Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Social Science, Human Services, Education, Communication, Psychology or related field preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of Tribal Ordinances, BIA regulations, ICWA, ICW and Tribal Court practices and procedures
