What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interim Potawatomi Ventures Board Member - FCP Tribal Member Only position at Forest County Potawatomi Community?
The interim period will last until November 2025, at which point the candidate may be considered for reappointment to fulfill the remaining year of the position ending November 2026. Board members will be considered eligible for re-appointment once the three-year term is complete. Board meetings are held monthly, or as needed. Committee meetings will be held in coordination with full board meetings. Board Members are compensated for their efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO through development and implementation of Potawatomi Ventures strategic plan.
- Define CEO’s responsibilities. Provide guidance and support to improve the overall performance of the CEO.
- Review outcomes and metrics created by Potawatomi Ventures for evaluation of its impact, performance, and effectiveness.
- Approve Potawatomi Ventures’ annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed and/or meeting all legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
- Partner with the CEO and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out.
- Represent Potawatomi Ventures to stakeholders and act as an ambassador for the organization.
- Formulate the rules of governance, establishing the methods for oversight and determining an outcome.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or closely related field
- Master's degree or MBA preferred
- Native American preference
Skills and Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in business management, or in government leadership is preferred
- Awareness about evolving trends specifically in finance and business is imperative
