What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wood Shop And Fab Lab Supervisor position at Forest County Potawatomi Community?
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaches skills in woodworking and fabrication; develops lesson plans and organizes programs and activities; guides selection of appropriate projects per age and skill set. Uses technology and materials to supplement instruction.
- Brings a passion to share skills with all (kids through adults)
- Models and instructs all safety protocols including PPE, safety guards, safe handling, and operations of tools, machines, and equipment.
- Maintains surveillance of storage, inventory, materials, equipment, and tools to prevent loss or abuse. Makes minor repairs to tools and equipment as needed.
- Leads through positive reinforcement and role models best behaviors in leadership to other employees and the community. Complies with all safety protocols.
- Advises and assists other Community Center staff as needed in the Woodshop or Fab Lab or other areas of the Community Center.
- Keeps current on best practices within the industry; brings creative and innovative ideas.
Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
- Two (2) or more years of experience in woodworking or a field closely related
- Associate Degree or equivalent applicable experience training preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Prior experience teaching woodworking classes and workshops preferred.
- Experience in fabrication and/or making in a Fab Lab or 3D-printing
- Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens
