Job Overview:
Provides excellence in customer service to Forest Highlands Golf Club Members and Guests. The Recreation Supervisor position is overseeing the daily operations of Forest Highlands’ summer camps, including field trips, daily activities, and guest speaker coordination. This position ensures that all summer camp programs run smoothly, are engaging and safe for participants, and provide an exceptional experience for children and families. Responsibilities include leading staff, managing logistics, and maintaining a fun, energetic, and professional environment.


Essential Functions:


Customer Service

  • Provide excellent service to members, participants, and families by assisting with recreation program information.
  • Address member requests and concerns promptly and professionally while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Program Oversight

  • Lead and oversee daily summer camp operations, including Little Pinecones (ages 2-3), Kids Camp (ages 4-6), Explorer Camp (ages 7-9), and Crew Camp (ages 9 ).
  • Plan, organize, and implement camp activities, field trips, and guest speaker events.
  • Evaluate programs and make improvements based on feedback and observations.

Staff Supervision

  • Lead, mentor, and support staff to ensure program success and adherence to safety standards.
  • Schedule staff shifts and monitor performance to ensure high-quality service and supervision.
  • Conduct training sessions and team meetings to align staff with camp goals and expectations.

Member and Participant Interaction

  • Communicate camp schedules, policies, and updates effectively with families.
  • Resolve participant concerns and adapt activities to meet group needs

Logistics and Coordination

  • Organize transportation and logistics for off-site field trips, ensuring participant safety.
  • Coordinate with guest speakers, vendors, and external service providers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe camp environment, including supplies and facilities.
  • Assist with supply purchasing and budget tracking.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure that all activities comply with safety guidelines and organizational policies.
  • Administer first aid and CPR in emergencies and coordinate with medical personnel if necessary.
  • Monitor and enforce appropriate behavior among participants and staff.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Promote programs through marketing and member communications.
  • Maintain program records of attendance, incidents, and program outcomes.
  • Support other Recreation Department activities, events, and tasks as needed.
  • Exercise initiative, judgment, and problem-solving skills under limited supervision.
  • Adapt to a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Complete assigned tasks professionally and promptly; suggest improvements to programs.
  • Assist in overseeing Concierge, Facility, Aquatics, and Fitness tasks when required.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and assist with additional duties as necessary.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 45 college credits hours required
  • Valid Driver’s License 
  • Current First Aid/CPR (upon hire opportunities to obtain these certifications will be provided)
  • Background with kids, babysitting, Education etc.
  • Clean background check
  • Basic knowledge of country club and golf course operations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be self-motivated with a positive and professional attitude.
  • Organized, able to work in a busy environment where the priorities are changing.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks during busy times while working flexible hours with an enthusiastic personality.
  • Must be reliable.

Preferred Requirements:

  • 1 to 3 years of related experience in a private club; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to handle all safety and concerns with children
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • CPR/First Aid and AED certified

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with guests, management, vendors/suppliers, the general public and other employees of the Company.


Mathematical Skills: 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Position is in a busy golf/country club in a private residential community.
  • Flexibility in schedule.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs regularly; up to 50lbs occasionally and to lift overhead and push/pull.
  • Work in an upright standing position for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to frequently walk, sit, stand, bend, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, stoop kneel, crouch, adjust vision accordingly (close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception)
  • Exposed to outside weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, and humidity.
  • Continuous ability to talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and far vision.

Equipment Used: Vehicles, snow blower, leaf blower, non-electric equipment, chemicals, etc.

Supervisory Responsibility: Directly supervise program staff and volunteers.

Budgetary Responsibility: Assist with budget tracking for programs and supplies.
