The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks including painting, drywall repair, basic carpentry, light plumbing, and overall upkeep of resident rooms and common areas. This position plays a key role in ensuring a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare surfaces and apply paint, varnish, stain, or other finishes to walls, ceilings, doors, and furniture.
- Repair drywall, patch holes, sand, and prime surfaces.
- Perform minor carpentry tasks including installation and repair of baseboards, handrails, cabinetry, and furniture.
- Handle basic plumbing and electrical repairs (e.g., unclogging drains, replacing light bulbs, installing fixtures).
- Assist with preventive maintenance tasks and safety inspections as directed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
- Respond promptly to maintenance work orders, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and resident impact.
- Collaborate with the nursing and administrative staff to minimize disruption during work in resident areas.
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials such as paints and solvents.
- Document all work completed and maintain records per facility policy.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2 years of experience in painting and general maintenance, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.
- Working knowledge of painting techniques, tools, and surface preparation.
- Ability to perform minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Must pass background check and health screening (including TB test).
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and infection control practices in healthcare preferred.
- Prior experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility, Assisted Living, or other healthcare environment.
- Bilingual abilities a plus.
- Certifications in maintenance or trades (e.g., OSHA 10/30, HVAC, carpentry) a plus.
