English Language Arts Teacher - Long-Term Substitute
Northern High School
Duration : approx. four (4) weeks; exact schedule to be determined
Reports To : Building Principal
Pay Grade : $110 / day first 10 days, $120 / day on 11th day and thereafter
Job Summary : Work with students to develop the skills of listening, thinking, speaking, reading and writing in students that are fundamental to effective communication and literature of all types; to motivate students to read widely for information and recreation; to develop standards for critical judgment of written and oral communications transmitted by mass media; to discover develop special talents of students in the field of Language Arts.
Qualifications :
- State of Michigan Teacher Certification preferred
- BA or BX endorsement preferred

Physical Requirements :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust / focus. Work Environment :
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work may be performed indoors and / or outdoors. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.
Mental Functions :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
Terms of Employment :
