Job description
Summary: We are looking for a general laborer/ handyman as a contract employee (1099 employment). This position will work closely with the Forest Lake Camp Caretaker and be responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the buildings and infrastructure. Fill your slower schedule with hourly work with FLC or have work while looking for your new career.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
General Responsibilities:
- Work independently and with others to continue to improve the camp facilities
- Offer input and creative ideas related to the facilities and grounds that will enhance the experience of our campers and guests
Maintenance Responsibilities
- Perform various handyman duties across all areas of the business including light/basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical
- During the camp season (May to October) respond to maintenance requests from the summer camp and administrative staff
- During off season (Oct/Nov/Dec and April/May/June) work through maintenance list at the direction of caretaker
- Perform routine maintenance on the interior and exterior of all buildings
- Assist caretaker in larger capital projects
Qualifications:

- Must have basic experience in handyman areas of carpentry, electrical work and plumbing
- Experience with operating general maintenance machinery and equipment preferred
- Experience using basic tools of the trades including impact screw guns, channel locks, hammers, etc (supplying own basic tools a plus)
- Advanced building/carpentry, plumbing and/or electrical experience a major plus for the higher paying positions.
- For higher paying open positions experience with various saws, nail guns, routers etc are expected
- For highest paying openings experience with roofing (metal and shingle), residential electrical work, bathroom plumbing, painting, tile work and finish carpentry would be expected.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects at once necessary
- Must be able to establish and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to complete projects on budget and on time.
- Must be able to recognize and resolve problems collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
- Must have solid communications skills with a willingness to ask for direction and clarification when needed

Hours available: 16-40 as needed
Pay: $16.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
