Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership:
- Lead a team of five technicians, providing direction and support on task prioritization and labor distribution.
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment by guiding the team and addressing any on-site issues or concerns.
- Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the arbor team when the Conservation Arborist is not on site.
- Communicate team needs, such as reporting broken tools, equipment malfunctions, or interpersonal mediation requirements, to the Conservation Arborist.
- Collaboration:
- Meet regularly with the Conservation Arborist to receive instructions, updates, and priorities for upcoming work.
- Work alongside the team, setting an example by actively participating in planting, pruning, watering, and other arboricultural tasks.
- Field Operations:
- Ensure the team follows best practices in tree maintenance, including safety protocols and the proper use of tools and equipment.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Experience in arboriculture or a related field is a plus.
- Ability to exert physical effort for extended periods while performing manual labor in extreme temperatures.
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than eighty (80) pounds.
- Knowledge of tools, materials, and practices used in tree maintenance.
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate vehicles and light equipment.
- Proficient in following oral and written instructions delivered in person, over the radio, or by telephone.

PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS/WORK CONDITIONS:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be comfortable with the physical demands of arboricultural work, including climbing, bending, and repetitive motion.
The Arborist Crew Leader will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of a team of five arbor technicians in the field as directed by the Conservation Arborist. This role involves guiding the team on daily task allocation, ensuring effective communication of team needs to the Conservation Arborist, and maintaining active involvement in arboricultural duties such as tree planting, pruning, watering, and other maintenance tasks within Forest Park.
