Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108 bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and we bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for our Maintenance Manager position.
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing the Maintenance department to ensure duties are performed in a systematic manner and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures and applicable regulatory/accreditation rules and guidelines in ensuring a safe, attractive, and orderly facility.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Manages expenditures in accordance with budget and demonstrates initiative in proposing cost saving measures and/or innovation in revenue generation.
- Effectively manages workload, completes assignments within specified timeframes. Develops and achieves departmental goals and objectives within the overall strategic plan of the hospital.
- Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures, as required. Including Assists Director of Plant Operations in maintaining policies on security procedures.
- Maintains all hospital facilities and equipment in proper repair and working order through the use of a maintenance log and preventative maintenance system.
- Repairs are to be completed within an average of three working days.
- Grounds of the hospital shall be kept safe, clean and presentable.
- Coordinates and monitors all maintenance and mechanical work performed by outside contractors.
- Maintains standards for area of responsibilities in compliance with outside survey, regulatory and accreditation groups such as JCAHO, Department of Public Health, State Department of Mental Health and State Fire Marshall. Correct reported deficiencies within specified timeframes.
- Responds to emergencies requiring maintenance.
- Contributes to the identification of causation and corrective actions for all injuries to hospital patients, staff and visitors.
- Plans and organizes the Fire Safety Program. Ensures that fire drills are held according to established standards and that all pertinent information is documented; responses are critiqued; recommendations to staff are given and a summary report of the drills is presented each month to the Environment of Care Committee.

- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous experience with H.V.A.C. equipment, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment including hand and power tools, carpentry, grounds maintenance, and
- auxiliary power supply systems.
- Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal regulatory codes regarding Fire and Life Safety Codes, building and engineering codes preferred.
- Must be willing to work any hours requiring maintenance personnel.
- A valid Michigan driver’s license.
