What we are looking for:
This position will coordinate the implementation of the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) Program within the John Day Unit, including the coordination with NRCS in development and implementation of projects. The position will be responsible for identifying, developing and coordinating project activities that integrate the capacities of ODF, contractors and NRCS staff. The position will have to develop relationships with agency partners, stakeholders, local collaborative leaders and participants. The position will link the NRCS Program with other Unit priorities. The position also serves an important function in the Agency’s Forest Resources Program.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience in forestry or any natural resource area, and a bachelor's degree in forestry or any natural resource area, or three additional years of related (pertinent) experience;
OR
One year of experience in forestry or any natural resource area, and a master's degree in forestry or any natural resource area.

Desired Skills:
- Ability to determine if grant proposals meet established guidelines.
- Ability to prioritize grant project proposals.
- Ability to determine compliance with grant project specifications.
- Skill in writing clear and concise status, summary, technical, and/or narrative reports.
- Ability to conduct forest inventory, mapping and record stand characteristics.
- Ability to formulate and implement forest treatment prescriptions.
- Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with landowners, operators, external cooperators, field managers and department personnel subject to program audits in order to effectively implement changes.
