About the Role
The HR Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the human resource functions of our rapidly growing organization, which consists of three companies with employees across multiple states. Reporting to the Sr Director, HR, this role is ideal for a professional looking to upskill and grow within a dynamic HR environment. This individual will contribute to strategic HR initiatives while managing day-to-day HR operations. The ideal candidate is results-driven, highly organized, and possesses strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
This position is full-time exempt at our Secaucus, NJ warehouse, with expected travel to/from the NYC office as needed.
Responsibilities
HR Operations & Compliance:
- Assist the HR team in implementing HR strategies to support business growth.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Support the development and implementation of HR policies and maintain the employee handbook.
- Contribute to workforce planning and organizational development initiatives.
Benefit Administration & Payroll Support:
- Support and manage employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and fringe benefits.
- Collaborate with the finance team to resolve payroll discrepancies and ensure timely payroll processing.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll deductions and adjustments to ensure accuracy.
- Oversee open enrollment processes, communicate benefit plan options, and address employee benefit inquiries.
- Manage the administration and utilization of our human capital management platform, BambooHR.
- Advocate for employees by addressing concerns and assisting with future benefit enhancements.
Learning & Development:
- Support the performance review process by providing training on goal setting, performance feedback, and career development.
- Assist in the design and execution of training programs that align with business objectives and enhance team members' skills.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify growth and upskilling opportunities for employees.
Talent Acquisition & Retention:
- Partner with hiring managers to define staffing needs and support recruitment strategies.
- Assist in the creation of job descriptions and position requisition approvals.
- Source candidates, screen resumes, conduct interviews, and facilitate the selection process.
- Oversee and enhance the onboarding program to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
- Support retention initiatives aimed at fostering employee engagement and satisfaction.
Employee Relations & Engagement:
- Serve as a key HR contact for employee relations issues, promoting a positive and inclusive work culture.
- Support conflict resolution efforts and ensure fair and consistent application of HR policies.
- Assist in initiatives that enhance employee engagement, recognition, and workplace culture.
- Provide coaching and support to managers on effective leadership practices.
HR Administration:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring compliance with company and legal requirements.
- Support regulatory and company policy compliance related to labor laws, benefits, and customer requirements.
- Generate HR reports and analytics to provide insights into workforce trends and improvement opportunities.
What You Will Bring to This Role:
- BS/BA degree in Human Resources or related field or minimum of 5 years HR experience
- 5 years of experience in HR with exposure to all major functional areas of HR, preferred
- Familiarity with labor law and HR best practices, required
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification is a plus
- Experience managing or working with HRIS platforms
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality
