What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer position at Forge Fire & Company?
Forge Fire and Company is a growing manufacturer of advanced fire training props and simulation systems. Including cutting-edge structures built from modified shipping containers. We’re looking for an Engineer to help us push the boundaries of safety, realism, and durability.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and analyze custom steel structures, container-based props, and modular fire training systems
- Create and revise 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings in SolidWorks
- Ensure structural integrity for extreme training conditions, including high heat and repeated impact
- Work with our in-house fabrication team to bring designs to life - from concept to completion
- Collaborate with fire service professionals to meet evolving training demands
- Assist with permitting, code compliance, and PE reviews when required
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (required)
- 2 years of experience in structural design (preferred: steel structures or modular buildings)
- Proficient in SolidWorks (experience with weldments and large assemblies is a plus)
- Familiarity with building codes, structural loads, and fabrication-friendly design
- Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on mindset — field visits and build reviews are part of the job
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- PE license or on track for licensure
