Forge Forward is searching for a Chemist to support a client in the Norfolk, VA area. Requires a minimum 5 years’ experience in an environmental field that includes conducting analytical chemistry tests using a variety of industry standard instruments and samples and analyzing results for compliance with established guidelines. Experience researching standards and analyzing data to assess quality practices plus 3 years technical writing experience and expert use of PC based applications is required. Must have an active Secret clearance and US citizenship. Position will be hybrid with some remote work possible.
Will support Department of Defense (DoD) environmental and shipyard-based programs with the Navy’s Laboratory Quality and Accreditation Office (LQAO). Must have analytical laboratory experience as well as ability to apply laboratory methodology, policies and procedures to determine data quality. Basic knowledge of chemistry and laboratory instrumentation required. Must have the ability to review standard policies, procedures, and test methods to draw conclusions on laboratory compliance to governing standards. The position will also provide meeting and webinar support for government workshops and subgroups; this tasking includes facilitation, notetaking and administrative/logistics support. Travel could be up to 20%.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an environmental field that includes conducting analytical chemistry tests using a variety of industry standard instruments and samples.
- Three (3) years of technical writing experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (Degree in Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, or Engineering that includes a minimum of 30 semester hours in Chemistry may be substituted.)
- Expert use of PC based applications (Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and SharePoint).
- US citizen with active Secret clearance.
- Ability to travel up to 20%.
