We are seeking highly motivated, reliable and mechanically inclined individuals to join our heat pump installation team. We are hiring both apprentice level (where no prior HVAC experience or schooling is required) and junior level (where 1 to 3 years of experience is required). This is a field-based, physically demanding role that begins with 2 weeks of paid training in our Newton, MA workshop and provides the opportunity to build valuable skills in the HVAC industry.

Additional Job Details
- This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position on our heat pump installation team. Hourly pay ranges are typically $20/hr to $35/hr and are based on skills and experience.
- Hours are typically Monday through Friday from 7am to 3pm. Due to the nature of this work, hours may vary based on jobs and overtime may be available for those who are offered and able to work additional hours.
- Due to the nature of this field, you’ll be expected to use your personal vehicle to get yourselves to job sites located across Eastern MA following the training portion. Our workshop and office is located in Newton, MA.
- Our next open job training will start on March 3, 2025. Ahead of that, we will be interviewing and will make hiring selections on two dates: February 7th and February 21st.
- Be an apprentice or junior installer on a 2-3 person Heat Pump installation crew, under the guidance of an experienced technician. We install both ducted and ductless systems.
- Perform labor-intensive tasks, including:
- Carrying heavy equipment such as condensers (200-300 lbs) and air handlers (100 lbs) with a small team.
- Running line sets by using extension ladders on the exterior of buildings.
- Working in tight and challenging spaces, such as attics or crawl spaces.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency on the job site.
- Uphold company safety standards, including working comfortably at heights and following proper lifting techniques.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Reliable, team-oriented, and eager to build a career in this field.
- Physically capable of performing heavy lifting and labor-intensive tasks.
- Able to work in uncomfortable temperatures and spaces (e.g., hot, cramped attics).
- No fear of heights and capable of working on extension ladders regularly.
- You are familiar and comfortable with using basic hand and power tools.
- You have a strong work ethic and are not afraid of repetitive tasks and manual labor.
- Are able to meet our work requirements, which include:
- Authorized to work in the US.
- Have a valid drivers license and your own vehicle to commute to job sites as part of your job.
- Are able to pass a criminal background check and drug test (no marijuana screening).
- Develop your skill through on-the-job and workshop training.
- Workshop training support starts with up to 2 weeks of training in basic installation procedures, such as:
- Mounting mini-split heads;
- Running copper line sets and line hides, including:
- Making flare and press fit connections;
- Hand, spring and ratchet bending;
- Working off of extension ladders;
- Setting condensers and condensers stands;
- Assembling, taping and insulating ductwork;
- Cutting in and installing duct vents;
- Workshop and on-the-job training opportunities continue as your skill develops.
