What are the responsibilities and job description for the Blacksmith position at Forged Components, Inc.?
Forged Components is looking for a skilled Blacksmith for our Navasota campus.
SCOPE and PURPOSE:
Directs and coordinates the forging processes of the organization’s products by performing the following duties personally.
B. RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Review, organize and plan daily production.
· Verify tooling availability and die set up.
· Verify furnace temperature.
· Verify accuracy of forge orders and follow heating and forging work instructions.
· Direct manipulator drivers and floor hands to ensure a quality forging.
· Verify as forged dimensional quality.
· Maintain Traceability and Identification of product.
· Complete all necessary paperwork as instructed.
· Maintain Quality and production standards.
· Return paperwork to forge shop office as required.
· Provide Quality Control and Forge Shop Supervisor feedback on forging and/or heating procedures.
· Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
C. ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS:
· In addition, the employee has a responsibility to follow Forged Components Inc.’s policies, procedures, Quality Manual and safety.
· Support and/or participates in the organization’s continuous improvement program,
· Quality and ISO 9001 (QS as appropriate).
D. REQUIREMENTS:
· Education and training - High School education and three years’ relevant experience or demonstrated education and experience competency.
· Vocational training or apprenticeship desired.
· Technical Requirements - Ability to read and interpret forging drawings and written specification, ability to understand and use basic mathematics, knowledge of forging processes and procedures are required, ability to effectively present information to others.
· Physical requirements - Sitting, squatting, walking, bending 8-10 hours per day; must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
· Employees must wear personal protective equipment when in the production area.
E. WORKING ENVIROMENT:
· The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical equipment, including forklifts, machine tools and forging presses.
· The operator is exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold and wet conditions depending on the time of the year.
· The employee may be exposed to noise levels more than 85dBA.
F. WORKING HOURS:
The employee will be required to work a flexible schedule and will be required to frequently work overtime.
