What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bench Hand position at Forkardt Hardinge?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assembles products, partially or completely, according to blueprint specifications.
- Organizes and monitors assembly projects and finished goods inventory; determines if components are available; may obtain/purchase hardware and/or communicate if components are unavailable.
- Operates hand tools and power tools to assist in assembly operation. May also operate related machine tools such as pedestal grinder, polisher, balancer, etcher, sandblaster, welder, etc.
- Knowledge and use of precision measuring instruments, test equipment, fixtures and “other” devices needed to assure proper form, fit and operation of assembled components. Completes necessary documents and/or forms.
- Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information.
- Perform shipping duties including but not limited to prepare product for shipment, communicate with freight carriers, operate various shipper software, monitor shipping materials and supplies, may determine shipping method.
- Perform receiving duties including but not limited to unpack/exam incoming shipments for accuracy and quality, route materials to departments, and enter receipts into system.
- Operate a forklift.
- Analyze and assess returned product for rework consideration.
- General housekeeping of work area in compliance with company expectations.
- Performs facility maintenance duties such as snow removal from sidewalks and doorways, emptying trash and chip bins, operating floor scrubber, etc.
