Role DescriptionThis role sits at the intersection of data engineering and Factory Software. As a member of the Data Platform team, you will work closely with a combination of software engineers based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV and a distributed team of data engineers and analytics engineers to advance the manufacturing of our revolutionary multi-day energy storage systems. As the primary data engineer at Form Factory 1, you will also collaborate with our partners across operations, process engineering, quality, and validation to dive deep into complex factory processes to deliver actionable insights and automate data solutions. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of data and manufacturing technology, shaping how data powers innovation on the factory floor!
This opportunity is based out of Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV. Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:Design and implement streaming and batch data pipelines to capture, clean, and organize factory data.
Build and maintain dashboards and data visualization tools to enable factory teams to monitor and improve key performance metrics.
Establish standards for performance, up-time, and security of data infrastructure, and ensure these standards are met with the help of the Data Platform and other software teams.
Create automated systems for monitoring data pipeline health, troubleshooting errors, and resolving performance bottlenecks.
Collaborate with stakeholders across operations, quality, and engineering to design and deliver tailored analytics solutions for factory processes.
Monitor and optimize the use of third-party SaaS applications and identify opportunities to in-source services.
Enable the deployment and operationalization of machine learning and computer vision models by building reliable data pipelines, facilitating experiment tracking and monitoring, and creating advanced data visualizations.
Lead efforts to document and share knowledge around factory data processes, ensuring scalability and sustainability of data solutions.
5 years of professional experience as a data engineer or software engineer
Strong command of Python and SQL, with extensive experience working in cloud platforms including AWS, Databricks, and Oracle.
Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Pulumi or Terraform.
Experience with Apache Kafka and stream processing frameworks such as Spark Streaming or Apache Flink.
Experience using Grafana for operational reporting, monitoring, alerting, and/or observability.
Experience with data modeling/transformation tools like dbt and data warehouse/lakehouse design
Curiosity, creativity, and tenacity when it comes to problem-solving.
Experience working with SCADA, MES, and/or Industrial IoT systems is highly desirable but not required.
