Role Description
We're looking for a Senior Equipment Engineer to join our Electrode Prototyping organization. This organization is responsible for developing the first of a kind processes and equipment that will allow us to manufacture our novel grid-scale Iron Air batteries at full scale. As a Senior Equipment Engineer, you will design and create equipment from scratch and engineer modifications to existing equipment.
Your work will start with a two-way conversation with our electrode design engineers to inform product design and get a jump start on developing quick-turn, low volume processes. Expect a range of work, from participating in hands-on trial builds up to delivering medium-volume, flexible solutions for an evolving design, which will inform mass production solutions. Through this role, you will develop a strong understanding of Form's electrode processes, and adjust process parameters together as per the input of our design teams. This is a cross functional role, where you'll get to interact with internal and external manufacturing engineers, supply chain, operations, safety, facilities, and technician teams.
Expect a high learning velocity and novel challenges that will need rapid root cause investigation and resolution demanding critical thinking, persistence, and collaboration. If you're ready for a challenge and excited to have a direct impact on a novel technology, this role is for you!
What you'll do :
- Own the development, build or purchase, and deployment of manufacturing workstations and equipment ranging from early-stage manual benchtop stations to semi-automated systems for medium-volume production
- Provide feedback to the product design team, working closely with them throughout the development process
- Select the right manufacturing methods to make the best possible Iron Anodes and / or Air Cathodes, and validate those recommendations through rigorous engineering trials and prototype builds, ultimately informing multi-million dollar equipment purchasing decisions for Form Energy's high-volume production lines.
- Design and deploy robust processes rapidly, capable of a high level of safety and uptime
- Own the debug and resolution of time-sensitive issues with prototyping & manufacturing equipment and processes as they arise
- Train team members hands-on in new manufacturing test equipment and processes
- Work with a diversity of teams inside and outside the company to achieve overall manufacturing success
