Form Energy is hiring a senior mechanical engineer to join our module & enclosure design team in Berkeley, CA. This position is part of a growing team. It will ideally suit a mechanical design engineer with experience in 3D modeling, 2D drafting, structural analysis, cost-down efforts, and taking a design into high-volume production. You're eager to dive deep into technical challenges, can work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities, and are willing to roll up your sleeves, do hands-on prototyping, and work collaboratively and cross-functionally with test, manufacturing, supply chain, and other teams.

• Design and prototyping of mechanical & electro-mechanical module components for performance & functional requirements, optimizing for manufacturability, performance, material weight, and cost

• Lead critical vendor engagements and collaborate with manufacturing engineers to transition system designs from prototype to high-volume production

• Collaborate with the Cell Design and Enclosure Design teams to co-develop interface requirements and designs

• Perform compliance studies and testing for module components

• Participate in line bring up builds, fabricating and testing first-of-a-kind prototypes to validate system design choices

• Degree in mechanical engineering or related field and 3-7 years of industry experience in mechanical design

• Proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drafting using SolidWorks or a similar program

• Knowledge of first-principles modeling and design and optimizing for manufacturing and cost-down

• Experience with a variety of fabrication techniques and manufacturing processes (sheet metal and plastics is a plus)

• Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills

• Experience in product development within an early-stage environment and experience in energy storage, battery systems, renewable energy, or related industry is a plus
