We are hiring a Staff Mechanical Engineer who will work on designing complex mechanical assemblies in space constrained, corrosive environments from concept to production. You will design plastic and metal components across a variety of manufacturing methods including injection molding, extrusion, and stamping. Experience with GD&T and tolerance analyses for electromechanical assembly with electrical interfaces for high-volume manufacturing is also desired. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of scaling our multi-day energy storage system at Form and contributing to a sustainable future!

• Lead the design of several critical components and develop functional requirements

• Validate designs through a combination of analysis (e.g., FEA) and hands-on testing

• Analyze component and assembly tolerances and develop cost/performance/reliability trades

• Collaborate with the Test and Reliability teams to deliver designs that meet cost, performance, and reliability targets

• Work with manufacturing engineers and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high-volume production

• Develop verification, validation, and reliability test plans to demonstrate designs meet functional and lifetime requirements

• Engage in design-for-manufacturing outreach with our supply chain and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are amenable to high volume battery production

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field; Bachelor's with 7 years, or Master's with 5 years with industry experience

• Experience designing plastic and metal components for implementation in high-volume production assemblies

• Demonstrated experience with the design and verification testing of electromechanical systems or fluid systems

• Direct experience with high-volume manufacturing, fabrication, and prototyping techniques; experience with tight-tolerance, multi-material component design for harsh environments

• Excellent communicator across a range of engineering and business functions

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
