Now Hiring: Sitework Operations Manager
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Sitework Operations Manager to lead field operations, scheduling, and resource management for excavation, earthwork, and utility installation projects. This role ensures efficient project execution, workforce productivity, and adherence to safety and quality standards. The Operations Manager will collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and foremen to streamline operations, optimize resource allocation, and drive company success.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Oversight & Leadership
- Oversee daily field operations across multiple projects, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
- Manage and coordinate workforce scheduling, equipment logistics, and material procurement.
- Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and foremen to ensure seamless project execution.
- Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain safety, quality, and efficiency.
Project Scheduling & Resource Allocation
- Develop and manage project schedules in Microsoft Project, working with project managers and superintendents.
- Assign crews, equipment, and materials to projects based on scope, timeline, and resource availability.
- Monitor project progress and adjust schedules or resources as needed to meet deadlines.
- Facilitate job start-up and pre-construction meetings with field staff and subcontractors.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies across all job sites.
- Schedule and lead pre-construction safety meetings for subcontractors.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Implement corrective actions to address safety concerns, inefficiencies, or project delays.
Field Operations & Problem Solving
- Serve as the primary point of contact for field staff regarding jobsite challenges.
- Work directly with superintendents and foremen to resolve site issues, labor shortages, and material delays.
- Ensure field teams have the necessary resources, tools, and information to perform their work effectively.
- Identify and address field errors and inefficiencies, implementing solutions to prevent recurring issues.
Budget & Cost Management
- Monitor project budgets, material costs, and labor hours to optimize efficiency and profitability.
- Assist in equipment procurement, rental agreements, and vendor negotiations.
- Review and approve subcontractor agreements, material purchases, and project expenses.
- Support project managers in change order management and cost forecasting.
Communication & Team Coordination
- Maintain strong communication between field teams, project managers, and leadership.
- Attend and contribute to weekly project meetings to review progress, challenges, and upcoming tasks.
- Foster a team-oriented culture, providing mentorship and leadership to crews.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Qualifications & Skills
7 years of experience in construction operations, sitework, excavation, or utility installation.
Proven leadership experience managing multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
Strong knowledge of grading, excavation, trenching, and underground utilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Project, scheduling software, and operational planning tools.
Familiarity with OSHA regulations, job site safety best practices, and compliance requirements.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve job site challenges efficiently.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Licenses & Certifications (Required/Preferred)
Valid Driver's License (Required)
OSHA 10 Certification (Required)
OSHA 30 Certification (Preferred)
Hoisting License (Preferred)
Hazwoper 40 (Preferred)
CPR/First Aid Certification (Preferred)
