1st Shift Driver & Shipping Helper

 

Position Summary: Picks up, transports and drops off various packages and handles shipments within a specific area.  This may include business-to-business shipments or local deliveries

Essential Functions:
• Pulls orders, loads delivery truck, and delivers items in accordance with distribution orders
• Delivers other items as assigned
• Unloads trucks at the warehouse or at other delivery points and assists in the proper placement of incoming merchandise
• Operates vehicle in a safe manner, maintains vehicle cleanliness, refuels as needed and reports malfunctions and/or hazardous conditions
• Maintain ongoing communication with dispatcher
• Operates forklift, pallet jack and other types of equipment
• Review deliveries with customers to ensure products meet their needs
• Processes daily job work orders for pick up, delivery or transfer of miscellaneous items/obtain delivery confirmations from each customer
• Communicates delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations 
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to traffic laws, safety procedures and regulations at all times
• Assist in other areas as needed

Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED 
• Valid driver’s license and forklift license
• At least 3 years driving experience
• Clean driving record
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
• Proven leadership and management skills  
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures

Environmental Conditions:
• Humidity level may be elevated during summer months
• Exposure to loud noise, at times
• May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, cold and heat

Physical Demands:
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds frequently
