What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Powder Coater position at Forma-Fab Metals?
Shift: Monday to Friday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm
Job Type: Full-time
Essential Functions:
The primary focus of the powder coater is to ensure metal components are painted correctly within specifications and quality control standards. Below is a list of the main responsibilities. Note* this is not a position requiring a skill set in wet paint application, knowledge of powder paint process is required.
• Follow all principles and practices of powder coating application
• Utilize all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth collection systems
• Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
• Determine powder paint flow and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using viscometers, adjusting the KV, Air, and powder flow.
• Ensure that items are prepped and cleaned correctly prior to coating
• Bake parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitations
• Apply knowledge of thermosetting resin coatings, wash, and pretreatments
• Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently, and are consistent with company-established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance
• Ensure quality standards and processes are used throughout the facility
• Good knowledge of the mechanics and repair of painting equipment
• Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment work area Safety *– ensure that all safety standards relevant to the production line are followed by the staff
• Assist in other areas as needed
Experience: Training in powder coating application
Environmental Conditions:
• Humidity level may be elevated during summer months
• Exposure to certain containments, at times
• Exposure to loud noise, at times
Physical Demands:
• The position requires continual use of your hands, considerable use of your arms and legs, and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials
• Must be able to lift and maneuver 30 lbs without physical restrictions
• Able to stand on your feet for ten hours a day
• This is a 40-hour-per-week job with the potential for overtime
