We have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced professional to be based in the Central Valley, Central Coast and Northern Los Angeles area market as the A&D Specialist.

The A&D Specialist is responsible for lead generation, A&D customer development/leadership and ultimately gaining specifications within their assigned geographic area. The A&D Specialist will be part of the local market team driving specifications and properly using Salesforce.com to manage projects, along with their assigned Inside Sales partner.

The primary objective for this position is to manage the architectural and design specification process and will be responsible for specifications generated throughout the territory that might be built locally, Nationally, or Globally. The incumbent will be expected to create awareness for the Formica brand and products within the architectural, design, and specification communities. He/ she will obtain specifications for Formica’s family of products, identify high value projects in the planning stages to target for sales, assist Formica personnel in bringing those projects to close, and assist/ educate applicators, installers, and dealers relative to the beneficial use of Formica’s house of branded products. Develop a market strategy that positions the Formica® “House of Brands” with key accounts to capture share in the residential segment. This role will communicate and collaborate with the sales organization to ensure promotion of Formica’s brands and products resulting in revenue creation. Support Territory Managers at the dealer level to increase sales of Formica products. Work with the Marketing organization to develop promotional tools. Collaborate with Customer Service Representatives.

A Short List Of Your Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Act as key member of a larger specification team (Territory Manager, Inside Sales Representative, and distributor partners) within the assigned geographic area
  • Create awareness for the Formica® brand and products within the architectural, design, and specification communities
  • Work closely with Territory Managers to track & close specified projects
  • Engage support from the A&D Spec Manager who will align needs for tools with Formica marketing
  • Provide interaction with local distributor branches to facilitate project tracking, execution of A&D initiatives and distributor specification representative coaching



  • We are looking for a self-starter with:

    • 3 years of solutions-based sales experience.
    • Background in construction materials.
    • LEED AP or GA preferred.
    • Previous Business-To-Business sales experience.
    • Knowledge of/experience in the Construction and/or Design Industries.
    • Ability to travel.
    • Proven ability to coach, manage, and motivate others to achieve results.
    • Excellent (verbal and written) communication, interpersonal, negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, and judgment skills.
    • Ability to collaborate and coordinate across the internal organization (Field Sales, Marketing, Legal, etc.)
    • Proficient use of MS Office Suite with emphasis in MS Excel.
    • Experience leveraging CRM (SFDC) to effectively manage a sales territory.
    • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage time.
    • Knowledge of local/regional markets preferred.
    • Demonstrates the ability to provide solutions to customer needs in a win-win fashion.
    • Must be able to present a value proposition and overcome price discussion/negotiation.
    • Effectively balances internal relationships with external customer demands.
    • Demonstrated passion for sales.
    • Strong presentation/ demonstration skills,
    • Keen sense for creative design.
