The PR/Content Marketing Manager will be a leader on the Marketing & Design Team, reporting to the Vice President of Marketing. S/he will lead PR strategy and develop content for intranet, website, social media, CEUs and e-mail marketing platforms, liaise with media, lead events and contribute to successful product launches, trade shows and other brand building activities for the Formica, FENIX, Hartson-Kennedy and Trespa Brands. S/he will work closely with the Executive Team along with the Creative Services Team, Digital Marketing, Segment Marketing, Sales and Human Resources.

Job Description:
This position reports to Vice President – North America Marketing and Strategy. Key responsibilities include:
- Serve the team’s chief content strategist and copywriter, devising plans and developing press releases, articles, case studies, executive communications, e-newsletters, headlines, etc. to support relevant, dynamic physical and digital customer experiences along with SEO efforts across the business’ portfolio of product solutions.
- Develop a broad spectrum of media contacts and create/maintain media lists, editorial calendars and media coverage filing systems.
- In partnership with VP of Marketing, build annual PR plans. Execute day-to-day PR activities that drive engagement and media pick-up including developing tight media pitches, interesting press releases, compelling segment ideas and relevant presentations and securing and coordinating media interviews (including print, broadcast, digital, trade, consumer, blogger and social outlets) through outreach.
- Manage media monitoring tools. In partnership with Canada and Mexico marketing leaders, report monthly on media coverage and continuously assess the effectiveness of media outreach. Make recommendations for changes and suggest new activities.
- Manage vendors, contractors and Public Relations/Communications agency relationship including leading feedback, weekly status meetings and ensuring projects and tools are delivered on time and on budget.
- Own the FORM Student design competition, managing all parts of the event in partnership with PR/Communications agency. Lead/assist with other event planning activities (Trade Shows, Webinars, Conferences) as needed.
- In partnership with HR, manage the Formica Intranet including writing content and work cross-functionally to ensure a broad range content from all business units and department.
- Own the corporate crisis communications plan. In partnership with agency, lead major updates. Ensure material is up-to-date, plans are understood across key functions and the crisis team is regularly trained.
- Serve as media spokesperson for Formica North America at trade shows, customer and government events and as part of pitch activities. Serve as back-up spokesperson for crisis situations.
- Other projects as assigned. Some North American Travel required – United States, Canada, Mexico.
- BA/BS degree in PR, Communications, Journalism or relevant field required.
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience. PR agency or corporate PR/Communications strongly preferred.
- Proven success in pitch development and outreach with influencers and local, regional and national media. Existing media and influencer contacts/relationships a plus.
- Exceptional writer with a strong portfolio of written content used to win media coverage and support business objectives across mediums.
- Articulate presenter with strong verbal communication skills. Experience as a spokesperson preferred.
- Meaningful experience planning and managing successful events and integrated communications programs.
- Familiarity with media monitoring and management tools – Meltwater, Cision, etc. – and ability to glean insights and use them to enhance PR activities and advance business goals.
- Excellent planning skills with the ability to plan personal work as well as the work of others – interns, contractors, agencies, etc. High attention to detail required.
- Well-organized with ability to multi-task and think outside of the box.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a project leader and member of marketing team and multiple cross-functional project teams.
- Detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to prioritize projects, work within short time frames and meet deadlines.
