I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
To oversee and ensure the effective execution of piping engineering activities, including design and implementation, by regularly supervising and auditing subordinate personnel. This role ensures compliance with engineering standards, company policies, OSHA safety regulations, and EPA environmental requirements. Additionally, the position will monitor and manage engineering activities through the company’s scheduling and budget control systems, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Project Handling : Act as the Person in Charge (PIC) coordinator for improvement and expansion projects, responsible for collecting and organizing engineering information such as specifications, data, drawings, and feedback from operations and maintenance teams. The role involves coordinating and communicating with other relevant PICs to ensure seamless collaboration, timely follow-ups, and effective execution of project activities.
Modeling : Utilize 3D modeling platforms such as Plant 3D, PDS, PDMS, or Smart Plant for piping design and modeling tasks. Proficient in exporting new drawings from 3D platforms to 2D AutoCAD for further development. Additionally, responsible for arranging 3D scans when necessary and leveraging scan reports to accelerate and enhance the accuracy of piping design processes.
Skills : Apply engineering expertise in piping design while effectively managing B2 project material estimations, scheduling, and forecasting to meet project goals. Utilize technical knowledge to ensure accurate and efficient piping design, ensuring that all timelines and material requirements are met in alignment with project objectives.
Budget / Schedule Control : estimate, coordinate, and issue B-2 project budgets based on the project scope of work for review and approval. Responsible for executing piping design tasks efficiently, ensuring that all work is completed within the approved project schedule while adhering to budgetary constraints.
Bid Package Development : Provide ISOs and 3D models to the Project PIC for the preparation of bid packages. Offer support during the Bill of Quantities / Estimates / Negotiations (B / Q / E / N) process.
Development & Problem Solving : mentor and guide team members, fostering their professional development and growth. Identify and address errors in junior designers’ work, resolving critical issues that could lead to design errors or construction delays. Proactively address potential field interferences, particularly those arising from incomplete or missing information on existing piping, equipment, and structures, ensuring smooth project execution.
THM : Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total Housekeeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
- Fifteen (15) years of experience in Mechanical Piping Engineering activities of Petrochemical industries dependent upon education.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent plus a minimum of 10 years of direct job-related experience required. Bachelor’s Degree with 6 years of direct job-related experience or an Associate’s degree with 8 years of direct job-related experience.
