What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chlor Alkali - System Analyst position at Formosa Plastics?
I. POSITION OBJECTIVEThe System Analyst will assist with daily plant operations by interfacing and coordinating activities with plant personnel to ensure safety, environmental & quality responsibilities of the unit are met. They will oversee the successful completion of improvement projects, data review, and operational objectives ensuring all targets are achieved. Information systems, including CPMS & DCS, will be leveraged to provide accurate reports, including monthly, daily and other scheduled reports. This role involves analyzing and maintaining operational data, monitoring product inventories and ensuring adherence to policies and processes across the Chlor Alkali unit. Additionally, the System Analyst will provide engineering support for daily plant operations and take on other duties as assigned.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITYOperations Support: Maximize the Unit’s productivity through best practices, benchmarking, planning, failure-root cause analysis, and development techniques/processes to increase reliability, to meet the Chlor-Alkali Department goals.
Production and Reporting: Create and maintain reports needed; including tracking of daily goals and explain the reasoning for not meeting the targets. Utilization of the DCS-PI system to perform historical data analysis. Study the process and look for areas of improvement that will help the units achieve Best Industry Practices and address deficiencies.
Manage, Analyze, Integrate, and Administer Solutions to Improve Efficiency: Gather, compile, analyze, and make reports with critical impact production planning, budget, quality, and achieve goals. Comply with company policy/procedures to streamline day-to-day processes, work flow, and related practices.
Perform Long-Term Planning Analysis: Profitability, production reliability, safety, environmental and quality and production targets.
Cost and Budget: Analyze and control the production/ unit department costs as measured by monthly reports. Make recommendations to correct any deviations from the budget
THM – Promote cleanliness and order through implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant like new condition.
III. QUALIFICATIONSA. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA1. Previous Related Experience RequiredSix (6) to Ten (10) years of experience in a petrochemical facility/refinery dependent upon education; experience in Chlor-Alkali plant, DCS and/or PLC systems preferred.
2. Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite• AS400 Experience Preferred• Personal computer skills and applicable software.• Good interpersonal and communication skills
3. EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 10 years of direct job-related experience required. Associate’s degree with 8 years of direct job-related experience. Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of direct job-related experience.
4. Other Certification/Training Required To Gain Function-Related Technical Knowledge• Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.• Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
