ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST I

I.    POSITION OBJECTIVE This position is responsible for being aware, providing guidance, and maintaining compliance with existing, new, and modified State, Federal, and corporate regulations, policies, and procedures at Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas. Performs routine engineering tasks using standard procedures including regular inspections of the facility. The Environmental Specialist will also provide reporting services as needed.II.    MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY Environmental ComplianceFacilitate implementation of Environmental programs that provide methods of compliance for the operating units individually and the facility as a whole including compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company safety, health, and security programs/ practices in line with corporate and site goals/objectives. Leadership and DevelopmentCoach and lead individual team members and groups for continued development of Environmental Competency throughout the organization. Initiate Action and Function as the Critical LiaisonDetermine maintenance, operations, and other support needs through interaction and provide regulatory interpretation/support to meet corporate objectives/goals. Facilitate regulatory compliance through implementation of training, policies/procedures, environmental evaluation of compliance as applicable, and provide execution/assistance for special projects as needed. Environmental StewardshipExecute assigned responsibilities, activities, and tasks in a manner protective of the environment so as to prevent/minimize environmental releases/emissions/issues, in line with corporate and site goals/objectives and regulatory requirements. THM Promote cleanliness and order through implementation of the Total Housekeeping Maintenance Program. Emphasize Nothing Touch the Ground Program and No Visual Pollution Program. Maintain the plant like new condition. III. QUALIFICATIONS A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA 1. Previous Related Experience Required6 – 10 years of applicable experience depending upon education requirements.2. Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job1.    Working knowledge of Mircosoft Office, power Point and database programs.2.    Ability to operate various office equipment.3.    Ability to operate a motor vehicle.Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.3. Education B. S. Degree in one of the environmental sciences or engineering disciplines with 6 years' of direct job related experience preferred; Associates with 8 years' of direct job related experience; or HS Diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 10 years' direct job related experience required.4.
