I. POSITION OBJECTIVE This position exists to optimize the utilization of physical assets and technology resources to train and supply the highest quality welding staff in the most efficient and effective manner, reduce costs and increase operating profit. Increases productivity and adds value by integrating qualified personnel, technology, and welding equipment while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that meets Environmental, Health and Safety Regulatory and company requirements.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITYEquipment Reliability:Provide Maintenance and Engineering Center support to operating units to help achieve smooth operation, manufacture high-quality products and avoid unscheduled process interruptions. This will be achieved by utilizing best practices, bench marking, planning, failure-root cause analysis, initiation and development of continuous improvement techniques, maintenance and Engineering Center procedures, practices and processes.
Training Performance:Successful training performance of welding school students will result in reduction of unscheduled work. Communication and working with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering Center to continuously establish code requirements and provide technical training and assistance for critical welds on piping systems.
Safety and Environmental:Maintain a safe and healthy workplace for all employees in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Assure compliance with all company safety, health, and security programs and practices. Provide management and leadership timely and thoroughly report all incidents to ensure they are investigated properly. Take personal responsibility and ownership for safety, including bringing the attitude that “I am individually responsible for safety” to the job each and every day. Provide Technical assistance to effectively maintain equipment in such manner as to eliminate environmental emissions, upsets or unscheduled shutdowns.
THM:Promote cleanliness and order through implementation of the Total House Keeping Management program. Emphasize “Nothing Touch Ground” program and” No Visual Pollution” program. Maintain the plant like new condition.III. QUALIFICATIONSA. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA 1. Previous Related Experience RequiredSix (6) to Ten (10) years experience in welding with SMAW and GTAW welding processes; and five (5) years of experience in either Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC) or combined QA/QC depending on education. Certified Welding Inspector Credential (CWI) required.
2. Technical Skills Required To Perform This JobAbility to pass carbon steel 6G pipe test for SMAW and GTAW within 6 months of hire - required.Ability to pass GTAW alloy tests to include Inconel, Monel, Duplex Stainless Steel, Hastelloy and Titanium; to be passed in 1 year – required.Ability to understand Code Requirements for repairs of equipment utilized in a petrochemical plant – required.Knowledge of Windows, Power Point, Word, Excel or similar programs required. 2-5 years in NDE as Level two/three RT or PAUT preferred.
3. EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 10 years of direct job-related experience required. Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of direct job-related experience preferred. Associate’s degree with 8 years of direct job-related experience.
4. Other Certification/Training Required To Gain Function-Related Technical Knowledge• Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.• May require special training as needed for the position• Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.• AWS CWI or equivalent - required
